What level can I enter?

 

Level 1 is for any dog untitled, or titled up to and including an IPO1, FR1, SDA P1 or equivalent.

 

Level 2 is open to all dogs of any level.

Obedience Level 1 (on leash)

1. Two teams will run together one will start with basic heeling the other team will perform a honor down in marked area. Handler will be next to the dog during the honor down.

2. Basic heeling- team will beginning heeling, at 15 paces team shows a fast pace (jog) for 10 paces then return to normal pace. Team will continue heel to cone and do right turn, continue heeling to the next cone a perform another right turn. 10 paces past the cone team will show a slow pace heel for 10 paces, then continue in a normal pace to the cone and perform another right turn. Continue heeling 20 paces and perform an about turn and heel to the marked area for the pause with auto sit. On the judge's signal continue heeling into the group, team is to show a left and right turn with a pause in the center of group to end the exercise.

3.Team will return to the start line. On judge's signal team will begin heeling. At 15 paces team is to perform a sit in motion, walk 15 paces from the dog, then turn and face dog. Judge will instruct handler to return to dog. (Handler can return to start line or go directly into down in motion exercise after returning to dog from sit in motion exercise.)

4.Team will start heeling and at 15 paces perform a down in motion. Handler will leave dog and walk 20 paces away, then turn and face dog. On the judge's instructions handler will recall dog to a front and perform a finish.

5.Team will now move to the agility exercises. Starting from the basic heel position, the handler will remove the leash. With the handler moving with their dog, handler will have their dog climb the A-frame, then jump 1 hurdle. After the hurdle jump the handler will tell the dog to sit and step back into basic heel position and leash the dog. Team will then report back to the judge to report out or go to the honor down exercise.

Protection level 1 (on leash) All dogs will be worked on a suit

1. Greeting of aggressive decoy- Team will be in basic heel position, a decoy will approach for a greeting. After greeting decoy will back up and begin to be aggressive, i.e. Yelling and causing a disturbance. Dog will remain in a position of control at the handler's side. This is a no bite exercise.

2. Attack on handler from heeling, with search and escape bite- Team will be instructed to heel to a cone, during the heel a decoy will come out from a blind for an attack. Handler is to send dog for a bite, decoy will work dog then lock up for the out. After the out, handler is to reclaim their dog and place in a down position 5 paces from the decoy. Handler will leave dog and perform a pat down on the decoy, as handler returns to dog the decoy will attempt to escape, the dog is to stop the escape. Once the decoy locks up the handler will out and reclaim their dog.

3. Long bite exercises- Team will set up at marked location, a decoy will come out from the end of field, on judge's instructions handler will send their dog on the decoy. Handler may follow the dog downfield after the send, but must stop once the dog is on the decoy. The decoy will work the dog, then lock up for the out. After the dog has outed handler can then reclaim the dog (either calling the dog back, or walking to the dog and picking him/her up)

4. Team will report out to the judge.

Level 2

 

Obedience Level 2 (off leash)

1.Two teams will run together one will start with basic heeling the other team will perform an honor down in marked area. Handler will step 10 feet from the dog during the honor down.

2. Basic heeling- team will beginning heeling, at 15 paces team shows a fast pace (jog) for 10 paces then return to normal pace (2 gun shots occur after fast pace heel). Team will continue heel to cone and do right turn, continue heeling to the next cone a perform another right turn. 10 paces past the cone team will show a slow pace heel for 10 paces, then continue in a normal pace to the cone and perform another right turn. Continue heeling 20 paces and perform an about turn and heel to the marked area for the pause with auto sit. On the judge's signal continue heeling into the group, team is to show a left and right turn with a pause in the center of group to end the exercise.

3. Team will return to the start line. On judge's signal team will begin heeling. At 15 paces team is to perform a sit in motion, walk 15 paces from the dog then turn and face dog. Judge will instruct handler to return to dog. (Handler can return to start line or go directly into down in motion exercise after returning to dog from sit in motion exercise.)

4. Team will start heeling (at a fast pace "jog") and at 15 paces perform a down in motion, handler will leave dog and jog 20 paces away, then turn and face dog. On the judge's instructions handler will recall dog, and perform a finish.

5. Team will now move to the agility exercises. Starting from the basic heel position, with the handler moving with their dog, handler will have their dog climb the A-frame and then jump 1 hurdle. After the hurdle jump the handler will tell the dog to sit and step back into basic heel position.

6. Flat retrieve- object for retrieval will be provide at the end of agility obstacles. From the basic heel position, handler will be instructed to toss out object, once object has landed and stopped moving handler will have the dog go out and retrieve object and return to handler with object. Handler will get object from the dog then have dog return to heel position to end exercise.

7. Reporting out to judge.

8. Honor down dog's handler will be instructed to pick the dog up before agility exercises by judge.

Level 2 protection (off leash) All dogs will be worked on a suit

1. Greeting of aggressive decoy- Team will be in basic heel position, a decoy will approach for a greeting. After greeting decoy will back up and begin to be aggressive, i.e. yelling and causing a disturbance. This is a no bite exercise.

2. Attack from blind- After exercise 1, a decoy will step out from behind blind and fire one gunshot at Team then will stand passive. Handler is to send dog on decoy with gun. Judge will instruct when to out and reclaim dog. Handler will place dog in a down 5 paces from decoy, leave dog and disarm decoy. When handler returns to dog and places dog into a sit, the exercise is over.

3. Call off- From a marked location, team will be in basic heel position. Decoy will enter from downfield, decoy will yell and fire 2 gunshots. Handler is to send dog downfield, at a marked location 20 ft from decoy, the decoy will put his arms up and give up. Handler is to then "call off" dog. Handler can either call dog directly back or down the dog, and then reclaim the dog. Once dog and handler are back at start point in basic heel position the exercise will be over.

4. Attack on handler- Handler will be instructed to down dog in marked area. Handler will leave dog and be approached by 2 decoys. Decoys will converse with handler (loudly) and move around. Decoys will be allowed to touch handler, when the decoy attacks he will use both hands on the handler to show the attack. Dog is to protect handler from attacking decoy. While the dog is on the bite, decoy 2 will pull a gun on the handler in a passive manner, handler is to then direct dog onto the new threat (gun decoy.) On judge's instructions handler will out and reclaim their dog to end exercise.

5. Long bite with re-attack from helper- From marked location, team will be in basic heel position, decoy will enter from downfield. On judge's instructions handler will send dog for bite. Decoy will catch and work dog, then lock up for first out. Dog should show some form of guard on decoy after out, decoy will re-attack dog and deliver two stick hits then lock up again for second out. Judge will instruct handler to reclaim dog.

6. Report out to judge from transport- After the long bite with reattack and the handler has reclaimed dog, Team is to perform a transport of decoy to the judge. Any form of transport is allowed such as side or back transport. Upon getting to the judge, handler will instruct decoy to halt, report out to the judge of completion of protection. Judge will instruct handler to heel away 5 paces then put leash on the dog to end the exercise.
