About Protection Dog Sports

Protection dog sports are a branch of dog training that test a dog's ability to protect himself and his handler. These sports are geared for dogs and handlers of extreme dedication. All protection sports test the complete temperament of the dog, not just his protectiveness. First and foremost, the dog must be safe for his handler and for the public. He must be able to control himself upon command. All protection sports are modeled to some extent on the way dogs are used in police work.

Many of the dogs that you will see at our trial are family dogs that live safely among small children and other family members. Because of their high level of training these dogs are extremely safe and are excellent examples of responsible dog ownership.
